This birthday, the one just before turning 40, needed to be quiet, calm. Not least of all because it came on the heels of an emotionally dense weekend with the family.
So, David and the dog and I hunkered down at home. Didn't stop us from breaking into the stash of Burgundy we brought back from our trip last year, though.
